Heat bears down on the valley, but that does not prevent life from growing. A large oasis rests at the opening of a desert, providing shade, food, water, and a dense area of trees. It is in those trees that equi are most often injured or killed, and so entry is forbidden without the Lead's company. A large river swells into a lake near the edge of the oasis, and plantlife is abundant. Palm trees grow in small patches, but they are not thick enough to keep the sun's heat off of the backs of those who live here. The territory continues for another mile or so outside of the oasis, spreading into a never-ending desert. Many who wander here never return, so be cautious
